Welcome ESL/ELL educators!
The goal of this site is to promote the use of technology in the ESL classroom.
Hopefully, after visiting each section of this site, you will come to the realization that the use of technology with our English Language Learners in this digital age is necessary. Regardless, of your own proficiency with computers or other types of technology.
This site is designed by Roger Hospedales, a teacher in the YCDSB SINCE 1996, specifically working at one of the board’s ESL Centres since 2002. Using technology to improve the learning of English Language Learners has been an area of interest from day 1, and it is utilized daily with my ELLs. Thus, the creation of this site to share some of those practices, supportive research and the ideas of others. The website went live on Thursday, May 14th, 2009.
You are encouraged to post your thoughts, best practices and anything else you consider useful to other ELL educators. Enjoy your visit!
* Note: Some pages have embedded videos from YouTube. If it does not show up on your computer (due to the website being blocked by your board, server, etc.), please visit the website from a computer that allows you to view the videos. It will make for a better experience. Furthermore, when more research and practices are discovered, that information will be added to the site to make it as current as possible.
